A new mobile service is being launched that will allow consumers to follow tweets about recorded TV shows in real time.
The service, titled Tweet Rewinder, allows visitors to select a hashtag or a specific time to rewind their tweetstream to see what was being said generally about a show, via a hashtag, or by a user’s followers when it aired.
A free version allows users to scroll back as far as four hours, while a premium £2.99 subscription enables 36,000 tweets, or around one week’s content, to be accessed. It launches next month as a mobile website with an app planned to follow.
Tweet Rewinder has been created by content strategy consultant Malcolm Coles, who is currently bidding to strike deals with EPG providers and set-top box manufacturers to embed the service and display it around on-demand content on screen.
“There’s a lot of talk about combining social media with TV but it’s always focused around live viewing. We offer the ability to do it via recorded programmes,” said Coles.
