ITV controller of documentaries and features Dianne Nelmes has commissioned another series exploring the package holiday, with a six-part order from Yorkshire Television (YTV), writes Steve Aston.
The 6 x 30-minute series Package Holiday 2001 aims to uncover some of the perils of package holidays using secret cameras. A team of five assistant producers will film undercover in hotels and at resorts popular with UK holidaymakers such as Tenerife, Ibiza and Majorca. As well as examining the quality of service and accommodation, they will deal with other issues such as levels of crime at various resorts.

The series is in production and will air in peaktime on the network this summer. It is being executive produced by YTV controller of documentaries and factual programmes Helen Scott, who said: 'This show isn't a cheap option, covert filming is very difficult and time consuming. Also a lot of research and journalism has to go into each programme. The shows will be very hard-hitting.'

The commission follows a similar order from SMG in April for an 8 x 30-minute series exploring the notorious antics of Club 18-30 holidaymakers and tour guides (Broadcast, 13.4.01).
