Indie Via Digital has won a lucrative commission to produce US 'pink' dating show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy for Living TV, writes Michael Rosser.
The British version of the hit US show, in which a team of gay consultants attempt to transform the appearances and lifestyles of "uncultured and crude" straight men, will be a co-production between Living TV, US broadcaster NBC and Scout Productions (US).The Flextech-owned lifestyle channel made its most expensive programme investment in Queer Eye... earlier this year, paying a "high six-figure" fee to secure the UK rights.Via Digital won the commission to produce a 10 x 60-minute series following a three-way pitch, which also included Prospect Pictures and Making Time.The US version of the show is currently airing on Living TV.The executive producers for Via Digital are David Hall and former Sky entertainment correspondent David Hedges, who is also a former producer of ITV1's This Morning. The indie also makes a weekly version of NBC's entertainment news show Access Hollywood for Living TV.- Target Entertainment has secured several new deals throughout Europe for reality format Straight Dates by Gay Mates including sales to Scandinavian broadcaster Viasat, Finland's MTV3 and Loribel Productions France.
