New senior management teams have been unveiled at three UK radio groups including a new group programme director for Kelvin MacKenzie's Wireless Group and the return of Bill Ridley as acting programme director of Talk Sport.

Ridley, who first joined Talk at the end of 1998, will continue until a permanent replacement is found for former Talk managing director Jason Bryant, who has taken the new role of managing director, development at the Wireless Group (Broadcast, 28.1.00).

Lee Cornell, 47, has been appointed group programme director of the 15 independent local radio stations acquired by the Wireless Group last year.

Australian-born Cornell was formerly programming director at Yorkshire-based The Pulse and Classic Gold, part of The Radio Partnership which Wireless bought along with the Independent Radio Group last year. (Broadcast, 29.10.99).

The first member of Cornell's new team is John Evington, former programme director of Stoke-based Signal One and the Big AM, who becomes programme director for the group's stations in the north west.

Meanwhile, Scottish Radio Holdings (SRH) has appointed sales director David Goode, 52, to the new role of managing director of its radio division.

He will report to SRH chief executive Richard Findlay.

SRH has also appointed Sheena Borthwick to the post of managing director of West Sound AM. She leaves a similar position at Central FM and succeeds Paul Cooney, who was appointed Radio Clyde managing director last month.

Elsewhere, the Ritz Music Group has appointed Howard Bowles as managing director of national country outfit, Ritz Country 1035AM. Bowles joins the company from the UK Radio Group and succeeds Bill O'Donovan.
