Radio production company Wise Buddah has begun approaching broadcasters with an interactive TV show based on a format currently being trialled by Magic FM.
The game, Please Hold Caller, uses multi-player technology to allow thousands of listeners to play against each other head-to-head.
Following a call-to-action from the host, players simultaneously dial in to the game using a mobile phone or landline and answer a series of general knowledge multiple-choice questions by pressing the appropriate button on their keypad.
Those who get a question wrong are eliminated, while those who answer all seven questions correctly win a cash prize which is shared with other successful contestants.
Wise Buddah’s head of content, Simon Willis, said the technology required to host the game had taken 12 months to develop.
“We have long believed that the modern TV/radio quiz should allow everyone who wants to play, play. Instead of watching people on TV take part in a quiz, you can now be a contestant from the comfort of your home.”
