The satire on the world of TV production stars Tom Courtenay (Billy Liar, Dr Zhivago), Amanda Holden (The Grimleys, Cutting It) and Bill Nighy (The Men's Room, The Lord of the Rings). Courtenay plays Joe McGill, an extra in a production, whose moment of glory in the limelight goes disastrously wrong.

Holden plays herself, as the star of a low rent television drama series called Police Siren.

The production, which is being filmed in London and Borehamwood, is funded by Universal Television.

The producers are Lynn Horsford and Analisa Barreto and executive produced by Simon Wright. The director is Paul Seed (Auf Wiedersehen, Pet)

The original production of Jack Rosenthal's script, which has now been extended by Rosenthal, was filmed in 1976 for the Granada series Red Letter Day.
