US-headquartered wireless communications firm xG Technology has completed its acquisition of Vislink Communication Systems for $16m (£12.8m).

Vislink Communication Systems, which was a division of Vislink Plc, is a provider of hardware for wireless video and communication systems.

Vislink said the deal would leave it “substantially debt-free to execute its software transition strategy with Pebble Beach Systems”.

Berkshire-headquartered Vislink Plc acquired playout automation specialist Pebble Beach in 2014.

xG Technology chief executive and executive chairman George Schmitt said: “We are excited to conclude this final step in the Vislink acquisition, and have begun the process of integrating our operational teams across all our business lines.

xG Technology provides wireless video systems to broadcast, law enforcement and defence markets, as well as private mobile broadband networks for use in “challenging environments”. The company was founded in 2002.
