Lord Ryder is picked as BBC vice-chairman
The Government has appointed former Tory chief whip Lord Ryder of Wensum as vice-chairman of the BBC in a move that will offer some solace to critics of the corporation's Labour-supporting chairman Gavyn Davies, writes David Rose.
