MIPCOM: Discovery Networks has acquired reality series Mob Wives which it will air across Europe on its lifestyle channels.

The broadcaster has snapped up the first, 11 x 60 minute series which follows the exploits of four Staten Island women including Renee Graziano and Carla Facciolo related to notorious criminals, after their partners and fathers are sent to jail.

The Discovery deal covers 12 European countires including the UK where it will air on Dmax UK from early next year.

The series was produced by JusstJenn Productions, Electus and the Weinstein Company and aired in the US on VH1.

Paul Edwards, Discovery Western Europe’s head of lifestyle & entertainment said he was confident the show would prove as successful in Europe as it was in the US.  

“The situation of the women featured in the series is unique, and their compelling stories have a universal appeal,” he said.
