ITV orders double helping of Tipping Point

An extended second series of ITV1 daytime gameshow, Tipping Point has been ordered from RDF Television.

The Zodiak-owned producer will produce a 40 x 60-minute series, double the number of episodes ordered for the first series, for TX in 2013.

The first series, hosted by Ben Shephard, was stripped across weekdays in July in the 5pm slot and averaged 2m (15%) consolidated viewers.

Players use knowledge, skill and tactics to answer questions to win a chance to play on the machine. If they answer incorrectly the arcade game will not pay out and the contestant could be eliminated.

The last player standing goes head to head with the Tipping Point machine and will be focussed on one counter – the jackpot disc.

ITV factual and daytime commissioner Diana Howie ordered the show, along with director of factual and daytime Alison Sharman, and said: “We are delighted with the success of the first series of Tipping Point and are very much looking forward to bringing viewers a second extended series.”

Jim Allen Peter Usher and Hugh Rycroft are executive producers for RDF.
