Raw TV’s The Secret Life of Students and Come Date with Me are set to be re-made for the South Korean market following a deal between ITV’s distribution arm and local broadcaster CJ E&M.

Secret Life of Students

The shows form part of a format agreement struck by the Korean firm and ITV Studios Global Entertainment in which the companies will collaborate on formats for their respective markets.

CJ E&M has its own production arm which will pitch the shows developed to the Korean market, while they could also air on its own family of channels.

The Secret Life of Students was a four-part series produced by the Discovery-owned producer for Channel 4 in which a ‘digital rig’ was used to monitor and integrate updates from the subjects’ social media accounts and mobile phones.

Come Date With Me, a spin-off of Come Dine with Me, involves singles using their cooking skills to win a date.

In return, ITVS GE has picked up two Korean formats: CJ E&M’s longest running entertainment show, From Start to Clear, and The Genius Game.

The former pits a celebrity host and their guest against a computer game which they must play until tis conclusion. The longest shoot on the Korean show lasted 80 hours.

In Genius Game, 13 players from different backgrounds compete in a cerebral battle through 12 strategic games.

The agreement was signed by ITV GE’s managing director Maria Kyriacou and chief executive of CJ E&M’s media division Lee Deok Jae.

Kyriacou said: “This agreement will give us the chance to extend our formats into each other’s markets, in order to achieve even greater global success for both companies.”
