Ben Shephard to host revived Krypton Factor
The GMTV host has previously worked on Who Dares Sings, 1 vs 100, The Xtra Factor and T4, but his latest role will see him guide contestants through the tough physical and mental challenges.
The show will debut in ITV's primetime schedule this January and will test participants general knowledge, memory, logic skills and intelligence, as well as their physical ability on the infamous assault course.
Shephard said the show was iconic, and he was thrilled to be picking up the mantle from former host, Gordon Burns.
“As a kid, I was desperate to have a go on the assault course and make a mess of the puzzles. Having said that, considering the makeover the show is having for the 21st Century, I'm very glad I'll be asking the questions not answering them,” he said.
ITV Studios executive producer Michael Kelpie said: “To compete on Krypton Factor, you've got to be an all-rounder, you've got to be the best of the best, a combination of brains and brawn.
“Ben Shephard has proved himself to be one of the most versatile presenters on television and is the perfect man for The Krypton Factor. He brings a genuine respect for the show having grown up watching the original series.”
The Krypton Factor's return represents the biggest advertiser funded programme ITV has ever commissioned and is being driven by a partnership with Sage, a business software and services provider.
