Ofcom drops review

Ofcom has scrapped its review of the TV advertising market, including the controversial ITV contract rights renewal (CRR) mechanism, after conceding there was nothing wrong with it. The regulator had pencilled in a review of the market earlier this year but today admitted 'the case supporting the need for a full review of the entire market has not been made'. ITV, which wants the CRR mechanism scrapped, now plans to lobby the Office of Fair Trading to conduct its own review.
