The BBC has picked up 13 nominations in this year's Banff Rockie Awards, writes Luke Satchell

The ceremony, part of the 24th Banff Television Festival, also sees 6 nominations for ITV companies, and nominations for indies including Talkback, Tiger Aspect, Company Pictures and Kudos.

UK companies make a particularly strong showing in the Information & Current Affairs Programmes category. Carlton is nominated for John Pilger's Palestine Is Still The Issue, while both Diverse Productions and Granada Factual are nominated for their involvment in The House Of War and Investigative Reports: The Anatomy Of September 11 respectively.

The UK is also well represented in the Mini Series category with the BBC's Daniel Deronda taking on Company Pictures' Sons and Lovers. The BBC is nominated for its part in Armadillo, a co-production with A&E Television Networks and Chestermead Ltd.

UK companies dominate nominations in the Popular Science & Natural History Programmes category. Tigress Productions is up for its involvement in co-production Journey of Man, while Granada International, Granada Production and Survival Anglia Ltd are nominated for Living with Bugs: War of Two Worlds. Science and natural history specialist Green Umbrella, in association with Channel 4, gets a nod for Nova: Galileo's Battle for the Heavens, and former Banff winner Windfall Films is up with Five for Secrets of the Dead 3: Bombing Nazi Damns.

In the Short Dramas category, indie Drama House Productions' Inquisition takes on the BBC's Pear Shaped: North Face, The Egg, Urban Myth.

BBC General Factual's The Hunt For Britain's Paedophiles is up for best Social and Poitical Documentary.

In all, 17 countries are represented among 83 nominated programmes across 14 categories. The 24th Banff Rockie Awards will be held at the Fairmont Banff Springs on 9 June.
