The BBC is preparing for its most comprehensive coverage of the Glastonbury music festival’s six stages including its first radio triple-cast.
The simultaneous three-stage coverage will kick off on Thursday 23 June with digital main host station 6Music and sister stations Radio 1 and Radio 2 delivering a two-hour show live from the site fronted by Steve Lamacq, Jo Whiley and Zane Lowe.
Subsequently 6Music will air comprehensive coverage including live performances, interviews and news updates. Steve Lamacq will present two-hour daily round-up show Round The Stages from 10pm, supported by Adam and Joe with a three-hour broadcast from 10am.
Radio 2 will offer listeners an hour-long show on Friday and Saturday night, Radio 2 In Concert At Glastonbury, supported by slots on 1Xtra and Radio 4. following the event all the BBC’s music stations will take retrospective look-backs.
BBC2, BBC3 and BBC4 will each screen performances relevant to their audiences, airing performances by BB King, Plan B, Beyonce, The Chemical Brothers, Mumford & Sons, The Streets and U2.
BBC2 will offer two-hour extended highlights each evening from 11.35pm, along with morning and afternoon coverage on Saturday and Sunday.
BBC3 will air its own highlights from 7pm on Monday and Tuesday.
The BBC’s dedicated website will feature live streaming of performances throughout the long weekend with highlights of over 60 acts. The content distributed via the iPlayer will also be available via the site.
