Episodes will be shortened to 40-minutes as a result of Covid-19 protocols

Holby City has become the second of the BBC’s continuing dramas to resume filming - with episode lengths shortened to 40 minutes when it returns.
Filming on BBC Studios’ medical drama started today at Elstree with a special episode that will involve the hospital being gripped by the coronavirus pandemic, a theme that will continue to be explored in forthcoming episodes.
The show will return to BBC1’s schedule later this year, with episode lengths reduced from 60 minutes to 40 for the foreseeable future as Covid-19 protocols cause filming to take longer.
EastEnders resumed filming late last month and will also have its episodes reduced by 10 minutes, while the cameras have started rolling again on the third season of Keeping Faith and the 10th run of Death in Paradise in Guadeloupe.
Kate Oates, head of BBCS continuing drama, said: “It’s with great pleasure that we welcome back the exceptional cast and crew of Holby City.
“We have some gripping stories to tell as we explore how the lives of our characters have been irrevocably changed since the start of the pandemic.”
