It was the breadth and quality of Tiger Aspect’s work that most impressed the judges.

Murder In Successville

It was the breadth and quality of Tiger Aspect’s work that most impressed the judges. The Endemol Shine Group producer worked with 13 different channels during the qualifying period, creating critically acclaimed, ratings-winning work, much of which went on to be recommissioned.

Early in the judging period, BBC Two aired industry-adored Best Single Drama winner Marvellous. It was another trophy for Tiger’s already bulging cabinet, following the Toby Jones drama’s Bafta win last year.

As well as singles, Tiger Aspect secured its biggest ever commission in the shape of Fortitude. Sky Atlantic’s Scandi-inspired series, co-produced by Tiger label Fifty Fathoms, will return for a second series after becoming the channel’s most successful original drama. The series won Broadcast’s International Programme Sales award after being sold into more than 100 territories.

The indie’s returning dramas were in good health too.

Ripper Street, Peaky Blinders and My Mad Fat Diary all aired during the judging period.

In comedy, Tiger Aspect launched Drunk History on Comedy Central, BBC One’s Catherine Tate’s Nan and BBC Three’s Together, while ITV banker Benidorm continued to pull in viewers. It also pushed boundaries with BBC Two’s transgender series Boy Meets Girl (which was recently recommissioned) and mixed genres with Murder In Successville (pictured) on BBC Three.

Endor Productions

The Red Arrow indie made big strides at the BBC during the judging period. For Christmas 2014, it made both star-studded Roald Dahl adaptation Esio Trot for BBC One and BBC

Two’s Victoria Wood single That Day We Sang. It was back on BBC One later in the year with Agatha Christie’s Partners In Crime, all of which helped its turnover jump 200% from £4.4m to £13.3m.

ITN Productions

Channel 4 Dispatches documentary Escape From ISIS was ITN’s main creative highlight over the judging period. The indie was also involved in Channel 4 live events The Great British Break Up, which aired on the eve of the Scottish referendum, and Alternative Election Night, and established itself as Channel 5’s single biggest supplier.

Kudos

Humans was Kudos’ big creative highlight. The sci-fi series, co-produced with Breaking Bad broadcaster AMC, became Channel 4’s highest-rated drama since The Camomile Lawn in 1992 after its first episode drew 6.1 million viewers (23% share). This added to the second series of Broadchurch and feature film Spooks: The Greater Good.

The Garden Productions

Channel 4’s 24 Hours In A&E remains The Garden’s big calling card, but the indie has worked to diversify the brand with the outstanding 24 Hours In Police Custody. During the period, the ITV Studios company also made ITV’s Virgin Atlantic: Up In The Air and BBC2’s The Bank, and branched out into reality with 10,000 BC for Channel 5.

Twofour

Twofour’s output remains diverse and prolific. The indie boasts returning series including The Jump, Educating, The Housing Enforcers and The Hotel Inspector. It added to these brands with fixed-rig series The Vote, which was broadcast on election night on More 4, and E4’s structured reality show Taking New York, plus the expertly handled Dementiaville for Channel 4.
