Spin-off from The Rookie confirmed as network renews entire scripted line-up

ABC has outlined its fall schedule and renewed its entire scripted line-up for the first time, while also confirming a spin-off from The Rookie.
The network’s autumn schedule will kick off with ESPN’s Monday Night Football, simulcast with ESPN, with Dancing with the Stars coming back on Tuesdays, followed by drama RJ Decker.
The Disney-owned network leads Wednesdays with a comedy block, consisting of the new-look Scrubs and Abbott Elementary, followed by Celebrity Jeopardy! and Shark Tank.
Ryan Murphy’s 9-1-1 and spin-off 9-1-1: Nashville return on Thursdays alongside veteran medical drama Grey’s Anatomy. Fridays are led by Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, while America’s Funniest Home Videos leads Sunday.
All episodes will be available to stream the next day on Hulu.
Midseason plans have not been revealed but the network has confirmed new seasons of High Potential, Will Trent and Shifting Gears will debut in 2027.
The Rookie: North will also debut next year, which tracks Alex Holland as he joins a rural policing unit. Jay Ellis, Janet Montgomery, Karen Fukuhara, Chris Sullivan, Froy Gutierrez, Mya Lowe and Malik Watson star.
The original show, created by Alexi Hawley, has been renewed for a ninth season at ABC and both are produced by Lionsgate Television in partnership with 20th Television.
Hawley is executive producer and writer, with Nathan Fillion, Mark Gordon, Bill Norcross and Michelle Chapman also executive producing. Jay Ellis is a producer.
Craig Eriwch, president of Disney Television Group, said: “Our focus has always been simple: Make the best shows on television and get them to audiences however they want to watch. That strategy continues to drive the success of ABC and Hulu - from legacy hits being embraced by new generations to breakout series becoming the next cultural touchstones.”
