The Voice and Real Housewives unit to move into Vernon Sanders’ Amazon MGM Studios division
Amazon has reshuffled its studio operations by bringing Barry Poznick’s MGM Alternative TV division into Vernon Sanders’ central team.
The alternative arm produces numerous unscripted shows ranging from Shark Tank and the US version of The Voice to The Real Housewives franchise, as well as owning companies including Big Fish Entertainment.
It will now become part of Amazon MGM Studios and overseen by Sanders, Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios head of global TV.
MGM Alternative TV was acquired by Amazon as part of its £6bn deal for the US studio and had most recently been under the purview of Brad Beale’s global content licensing and distribution arm.
Before that, it had been overseen by Chris Brearton, who departed last year, but Sanders told staff via a memo the reshuffle would strengthen the alternative division’s resources.
“As we bring our teams together, I’m confident that combining our strengths will force multiply our ability to create groundbreaking content,” he wrote.
“This is an opportunity to leverage our collective expertise and resources in ways that will enhance our position as leaders in unscripted and reality programming.” US trade Deadline broke the news.
