Jonnydepony-produced series heads to the Netherlands following Banijay Rights deal
Netherlands-based public broadcaster NPO has become the first buyer of buzzy Flemish comedy-drama, Boho, Broadcast International has learned.
The six-part show will air on NPO’s BNNVARA and is from Banijay Benelux label Jonnydepony. It was produced for Belgian OTT service Streamz, with Banijay Rights selling globally.
The series was created by Abbie Boutkabout and follows three thirty-something friends as they navigate life in the urban landscape of Borgerhout, one of Antwerp’s most eclectic and culturally-rich neighbourhoods.
Ikram Aoulad, Serine Ayari and hip-hop artist Miss Angel star, with the show - which won best shortform at Cannes Series earlier this year - marking Boutkabout’s TV debut.
Zita Theunynck (De Club, Arcadia) and Philippe De Schepper (De Big Fuck-up, Eigen Kweek) also wrote on the show, with Olympia Allaert (Season of Sex, Panna) directing.
