Canadian producer Tieren Hawkins to lead push, with slate of projects in the works
Bell Media and Fifth Season-backed Blink49 Studios has appointed a Canadian producer to lead a push into vertical content and microdrama production.
Tieren Hawkins becomes vice president of vertical content at the John Morayniss-led company, working out of Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia.

The regions are among Canada’s most competitive jurisdictions for vertical production, offering tax incentives for the format.
Hawkins will lead the development of an original slate of vertical IP, while also working across shows for Blink49’s Brand Studio, traditional platforms and emerging apps.
The company said it has multiple projects in development with a “major” unnamed US network and is also looking to adapt existing IP into microdrama formats.
“Tieren brings a rare combination of creative instinct and executional expertise in a format that is evolving at an incredible pace,” said Tara Long, global president of unscripted TV at Blink49 Studios.
Hawkins added he would use “Blink49’s creative reach, relationships, and infrastructure, and to continue working with partners across the industry to help establish Canada as a leading hub for vertical production.”
Hawkins has created and delivered shortform series for partners including ReelShort, Dramawave and ShortMax, which are claimed to have collectively reached more than 325 million views.
His credits include Forbidden Bonds (Dramawave) and Love in the Ashes of Us (ReelShort), as well as Thanksgiving with Mom & Dad and Taming the Cold CEO.
