Experienced exec will work across global acquisitions for Canadian company
Canada’s Boat Rocker Studios has appointed former Lionsgate exec Noel Hedges to the newly created role of senior vice president of global acquisitions and content strategy.
Hedges joins Boat Rocker’s London office and will be responsible for increasing the long-term value of Boat Rocker’s content portfolio.

His remit incudes identifying strategic IP acquisitions, working on rights ownership and overseeing co-production partnerships, reporting into Jon Rutherford, president of global content & rights.
Hedges, who will start with the company in early October and attend Mipcom with the Boat Rocker team, was most recently exec vice president of international acquisitions and co-productions at Lionsgate.
Prior to that, he held senior roles at eOne, DRG, Cineflix Media, and ITV Studios, among others.
“In addition to his wealth of experience, Noel is extremely well-regarded throughout the industry, and we’re thrilled to welcome him to the Boat Rocker Studios team,” said Rutherford.
“This is an exciting time for our company as we continue to execute on our strategic priorities, with a clear focus on investing in great IP and maximizing its value across our business.”
Hedges added: “I’m excited to join Boat Rocker at a time when the company is investing so deliberately in distinctive, high-quality IP.
“I look forward to working with the team to source ambitious projects and strengthen and expand Boat Rocker’s already impressive content portfolio.”
Boat Rocker became an independent company following a reverse takeover agreed with Blue Ant Media last year. Its slate includes Bet (Netflix), Mix Tape (BBC, Binge, RTE), The Ridge (BBC Scotland, Sky New Zealand Originals), and Geek Girl (Netflix).
The company has also worked on shows such as Invasion (Apple TV), Palm Royale (Apple TV), Orphan Black (BBC America, CTV Sci-Fi Channel), and Dino Ranch (Disney+, Disney Junior, CBC).
