So Long, Marianne producer C3 Media is shuttering its UK division to consolidate its operations in Canada, with London-based managing director Jason Simms exiting his role, Broadcast International has learned.

Simms joined C3 Media in 2023 and during his time in charge expanded the company’s slate and client base to include series and feature documentaries for A&E, AMC, Prime Video, CBC, Bell Media and Super Channel.

So Long Marianne

C3’s Leonard Cohen drama So Long Marianne aired on ITV in the UK

The former Fox and Sky exec will remain attached as an exec producer to scripted projects that are currently in development at the Montreal-headquartered company.

C3Media’s slate ranges from upcoming feature doc Kings of Coke for Bell Media to Secrets of the Bunny Ranch for A&E, as well as It’s Not Funny Anymore: Vice to Proud Boys for CBC Canada.

It is also behind true crime docuseries In Cold Water: The Shelter Bay Mystery for Prime Video, as well as drama series such as So Long, Marianne for Crave, NRK, ITV, ARD, and Cosmote TV.

Simms joined C3 from Sky Studios, where he was director of international scripted programming, overseeing international partnerships and commercial strategy for its slate of dramas and comedies from the UK, Italy and Germany. He joined Sky in 2017 from Fox.

UK pullback

His exit comes as Cineflix-backed C3 Media repositions its production and operations offices in Montreal and Toronto, while continuing to produce for the global market through co-productions with international partners. His exit was confirmed in a note to staff today, seen by Broadcast International.

Michael Kronish, president at C3 Media, said: “Jason has contributed enormously to C3 Media over the past few years, and we are grateful for the impact he has made at the company. We are excited to continue collaborating with Jason as an independent executive producer on several new projects we are lining up.”

Simms added: “I’ve enjoyed working with Pablo and Michael over the last couple of years and helping lead C3’s significant expansion during that time, and I’m also looking forward to continuing our relationship across a number of scripted projects in the future.”
