Amazon MGM Studios has linked up with The End of the F***ing World’s Charlie Covell on an adaptation of Kate Moennig and Leisha Hailey’s book, So Gay for You: Friendship, Found Family, and the Show That Started It All.

The show, which is in development, explores female friendship as well as how Moennig and Hailey’s lives changed after starring in The L Word.

The duo starred in US drama The L Word during its five-year run on Showtime between 2004 and 2009. It spawned reality spin-offs and a sequel series, The L Word: Generation Q, which ran between 2019 and 2023.

Covell, who also worked on Kaos, is attached as creator and showrunner on the adaptation, and exec produces alongside Moennig, Hailey and Nina Lederman.

Jessica Rhoades (Black Mirror, Ponies) will also executive produce for Pacesetter, with Alison Mo Massey attached as co-exec producer.

Covell is currently working on Life Is Strange, which she is showrunning for Amazon MGM Studios and Lucky Chap.
