Former Amazon Studios European chief to lead platform’s studios division
Former head of Amazon Studios Europe Georgia Brown is to join Danish podcast and audiobook platform Podimo to lead its newly launched Studios division and expand its English-language content output.
Brown will take on the London-based role of chief content officer heading up Podimo’s content strategy across its subscription platform and Studios. She will oversee the production and rollout of original content across podcasts, video and digital.
Podimo Studios will create fresh revenue streams for creators through licensing, brand partnerships, live events, and expanding internationally. Podimo’s acquired companies podcast agency and advertising outfit Podads, production outfit Tonny Media, and podcast publisher Dag en Nacht Media will operate under the Podimo Studios umbrella.
Broadcast understands the ambition is to build Podimo into a fully integrated media company. Brown will establish the content strategy, working with creators to build IP and brands to identify the appropriate route for content monetisation across TV, film, live events and publishing.
Brown will also join the leadership team, replacing outgoing chief content officer Sachin Doshi, who is stepping down from his role in September to take up a board position advising on the company’s expanding Studios and platform strategies.
Podimo was founded in 2019, and recently reached 1m paying subscribers, with its content line-up including podcasts and audiobooks The Missing, You Don’t Know Me, Letters From A Killer and Forgotten: Women of Juárez.
She left her role at Amazon Studios in 2022 after five years of directing European originals and scaling operations across European productions hubs. During her tenure she developed hits including Clarkson’s Farm, The Rig, LOL: Last One Laughing and the All or Nothing franchise.
Since her departure she has joined the boards of Garden Studios and the BFI’s UK Skills Task Force, a role to develop the ‘Sustainable Skills for the Future’ framework. Previously, she held senior roles in content distribution at Fremantle, Shine Group, and BBC Worldwide.
Brown said: “The creator economy is experiencing rapid, transformative growth, reshaping how stories are told, shared, and monetised. The future of content lies in convergence between the world of traditional entertainment and the dynamic, ever-evolving creator landscape.
“Podimo is uniquely positioned to empower creators to grow into media entrepreneurs, building sustainable businesses, and scaling their impact through premium, IP-led storytelling.”
Founder and chief executive Morten Strunge said: “Podimo was built on strengthening relationships between creators and their audiences, helping them earn more and own their value. Under Georgia’s creative leadership and backed by Podimo’s strong tech and product foundation, we are positioning ourselves at the forefront of premium storytelling and platform innovation.
“We are grateful to Sachin for building such strong foundations and are looking forward to continuing to work together in his new capacity.”
