Eight-part series adapted from novel Blood Safari will star Abbie Cornish and Dougray Scott
M-Net, ITV Studios, Scene23 and Berkeley Media Group have come together on South African action thriller The Invisible, marking ITVS’s first scripted project from a South African production firm.
The eight-part series is an adaptation of Deon Meyer’s novel Blood Safari, with the cast being led by Abbie Cornish and Dougray Scott, who both also executive produce the series.
In the shadow of South Africa’s Kruger National Park, a mysterious killer begins executing local poachers.As the body count rises, a local inspector is drawn into a dangerous manhunt to unmask the vigilante.
At the same time, Dekker a former bodyguard is hired to protect South African expat Emma who has returned to her home to search for her missing brother. When the investigations collide, they uncover a conspiracy that could re-write history.
The series is directed by Jozua Malherbe and is created by Deon Meyer and William Josef Schneider with the latter taking the lead in writing the TV adaptation, while Tina Kruger serves as create executive producer.
ITVS’s executive vice president of global content at ITV Studios Julie Meldal-Johnsen said the project was “hopefully the first of many.”
The Invisible is produced in association with, and distributed internationally by, ITV Studios.
