Taylor Sheridan drama to remain available through Paramount+ in the UK

ITVX has picked up Paramount+ thriller Lioness in the UK and will stream the show’s first season next month, with the second run slated for 2026.
Lioness launched in the US in 2023 and was subsequently rolled out on Paramount+ in the UK, with its second season premiering in October 2024.
Following ITVX’s deal with Paramount Global Content Distribution, the first season of the Zoe Saldaña-starring drama will be rolled out on ITVX from 7 September. The second season will become available in 2026, but no date has been given.
It is unclear if the two seasons of Lioness, which is believed to be ITVX’s first Paramount+ acquisition, will also air on an ITV channel.
The series is from prolific Paramount creator Taylor Sheridan and has been inspired by a real-life US military program. It follows the life of Joe (Saldaña) while she attempts to balance her personal and professional life as the tip of the CIA’s spear in the war on terror. Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman and Michael Kelly also star.
Both seasons were produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios.
The series, which is yet to secure a third season renewal, is executive produced by Yellowstone and Landman creator Sheridan, alongside David C. Glasser, Saldaña, Kidman, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Jill Wagner, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Malone and John Hillcoat.
Sasha Breslau, ITV’s head of content acquisitions who is soon to join HBO Max, said: “We’re thrilled to be bringing such a high-octane series to ITVX. With a stellar cast led by Zoe Saldaña, and Nicole Kidman and Taylor Sheridan’s signature storytelling at the helm, Lioness is another great addition to our premium line-up of international drama series.”
