Blue Ant Media-owned operator unveils shows from European producers Terra Mater and Bonne Pioche
Blue Ant Media-owned Love Nature has unveiled a raft of commissions as Sunny Side of the Doc gets underway today in La Rochelle, France, with shows from European producers Bonne Pioche and Terra Mater on the slate.
Animal Crowds is a 3 x 60-minute series from Federation Studios-owned Bonne Pioche that is being co-produced with Arte and examines animals that live in large groups.
The Philippines (2 x 60 minutes), from Germany’s Terra Mater, is being produced with Catkin Media Production and Doclights and reveals the wild animals and marine life inhabit the country, while 60-minute special Boss Shark: Battle of the Sexes is from WildBear Entertainment and is being coproduced with Discovery.
The doc is the latest in the Boss Shark strand and uses a playful team-based competition spin to discover whether male or female sharks are more dominant.
Rounding out the slate is Planet Weird Season 2, a six-part that is also from WildBear and which marks the second instalment of the Planet Weird strand.
It explores bizarre outliers in the animal kingdom and is being helmed by celebrity comic narrator, Ross Noble.
Blue Ant Studios manages international licensing and pre-sales on the quartet.
“These newly announced greenlights reflect the wide spectrum of modern wildlife production that Love Nature has become known for over the last decade,” said Alison Barrat, senior vice president and head of content at Love Nature.
Mark Bishop, co-president at Blue Ant Studios, said the Canadian company’s presence at Sunny Side underlined how his production and distribution unit worked with sibling consumer-facing brand Love Nature.
