British titles pick up nearly half of awards including coveted comedy and drama prizes

British titles won nearly half of this year’s International Emmys, with BBC1 comedy Ludwig scooping best comedy and Disney+’s Rivals taking home best drama.
Ludwig, starring David Mitchell and Anna Maxwell Martin, is co-produced by Big Talk Studios and That Mitchell & Webb Company, while the adaptation of Jilly Cooper’s novel of the same name hails from Happy Prince.

UK shows took home seven of the 16 awards presented last night (24 November) at the ceremony in New York.
Expectation’s BBC2 documentary Hell Jumper, about a Brit volunteering in Ukraine, won the documentary gong, while Basement Films’ Channel 4 Dispatches: Kill Zone: Inside Gaza landed the current affairs win. The latter tells the story of the Israeli military assault on Gaza following the 7 October attacks.
Weeks after revealing its closure, regional scripted indie Duck Soup picked up the TV movie/mini-series gong for BBC1 adoption drama Lost Boys & Fairies, while the live action kids category was won by Night Train Media, Silver Reel, Hero Squared and UMedia’s Fallen.
Anna Maxwell Martin scooped the best performance by an actress for her role in World Productions’ ITV1 true crime drama Until I Kill You, in which she plays Delia Balmer.
The founders Emmy was presented to co-chair of Disney Entertainment Dana Walden, for championing creative excellence and supporting the storytellers behind titles including 24, Glee, Grey’s Anatomy, Homeland and This Is Us.
