Scripted series The Great White is from See-Saw Films while France’s M6 will air The Heirs Of Monte Cristo

Mediawan has unveiled projects including a See Saw Films drama for the ABC in Australia to be directed by Mia Wasikowska and an entertainment show spun off from its recent scripted series The Count of Monte Cristo.

The Great White is a 6 x 60-minute drama written by Ange Betzien and Nick Coyle, with Wasikowska directing alongside Nash Edgerton, and Hugo Weaving starring.

The show, which is being sold by Mediawan Rights with the participation of Entourage Ventures, tracks a brilliant but disgraced lawyer who must act for a dog on death row as he looks to revive his life.

M6, meanwhile, is behind unscripted series The Heirs Of Monte Cristo, which is being produced by Mediawan France.

Drawn by the promise of the Count of Monte Cristo’s legendary treasure, 12 contestants enter his mysterious castle and face physical challenges to win clues leading to prizes.

The show follows last year’s launch of the Sam Claflin and Jeremy Irons-starring drama from Mediawan’s DEMD Productions and Palomar.

Mediawan’s unscripted slate also incudes France TV’s adventure challenge format That’s My Chair, while factual shows in the works range from Canal+ show Open Brain - exploring neuroscience in sports - to The Blind Couple From Mali.

The latter is from Makers for CBC in Canada and explore the life of musical duo Amadou & Mariam.

Mediawan has been reorganising its sales team over recent weeks as it looks to make a push on English-language drama, with shows such as Drama Republic duo Riot Women and California Republic in the works.

Other upcoming titles include Belphegor from Pathé for HBO Max and M6, which La Cible (Target) is coming from DEMD Productions for TF1.

The 6 x 52-minute show is written by Laurent Vachaud and Déborah Hadjedj, directed by Ivan Fégyvères, and stars Tomer Sisley, Fauve Hautot and Thierry Frémont.
