Disney brand ups 9/11 Reunited exec to fill globally-focused creative position
National Geographic has devised a London-based senior global development role and upped UK commissioner Cate Hall to fill the position, Broadcast has learned.

Hall has been appointed as vice-president of unscripted development, a newly created position in which she will cover global development as well as development for the Disney brand’s co-production pipeline in the US and in EMEA, across its unscripted slate.
Her remit does not cover natural history programming development, which falls under Janet Vissering, senior vice-president of production and development for Nat Geo. Earlier this year, SVP of development Charlie Parsons was one of the notable exits as part of the cuts at Disney Entertainment Television, which houses production units and networks including ABC, FX and Nat Geo.
Hall continues to report into Bengt Anderson, senior vice-president of production. She previously served as commissioning editor, global & international, where she played an integral role in titles such as the recently launched Nat Geo/Disney+ title 9/11 Reunited, produced by 9/11: One Day In America indie 72 Films.
She joined Nat Geo late last year succeeding Simon Raikes, tasked with driving development and commissioning of high-profile, factual programming for Disney+, Hulu and Nat Geo’s linear channels.
Prior to working at Disney, Hall was head of specialist factual at Fremantle-owned 72 Films, where her credits included Britain and the Blitz for Netflix and the second series of 007: Road to a Million for Prime Video.
She previously served as creative director of development at BBC Studios’ Documentary Unit.
