Regional indie teams up with explorer for China’s CICC and CMG and The Netherlands’ Insight TV
Wales and Bath-based indie One Tribe TV has been commissioned by three international broadcasters to produce a travelogue in which explorer Ash Dykes will travel the length of China’s Yellow River.
China’s CICC and CMG and Netherlands-based FAST streaming group Insight TV have ordered the 3 x 60-minute series Ash Dykes’ Yellow River Adventure. It is One Tribe’s second major factual documentary collaboration with Chinese producers, following In the Footsteps of Marco Polo for for CCTV and Blue Ant, which charts Stanley and Max Johnson on Marco Polo’s Silk Road journey.
Dykes will travel via land, air and water, from the river’s source in the glaciers of the Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau to its mouth at the Bohai Sea.
Dykes said: “For me, this is more than an expedition. It’s a chance to tell the story of the Yellow River’s past, present, and future through the lens of adventure, survival, and human connection. It’s the biggest and most ambitious project of my career so far.”
Executive producer and co-founder of One Tribe Dale Templar said: “This series is One Tribe at its best, bringing together high-end factual storytelling, epic human endeavour and genuine cross-cultural partnership.
“Working with Insight, CICC and CMG allows us to tell the story of the Yellow River at a scale and ambition worthy of its place in human history.”
