Former NBCUniversal exec Kevin MacLellan to oversee content distribution, as well as 5 in the UK and Australia’s Network 10
Skydance Media has confirmed a raft of senior exec additions as it prepares to merge with Paramount Global, including hiring Kevin MacLellan for an international remit that includes oversight of 5 in the UK and Network 10 in Australia.
Former NBCUniversal exec MacLellan will become president of international and global content distribution, in a move that reunites him with former colleague Jeff Shell.
The duo worked together at NBCU until 2023 when Shell departed, with the exec earlier this week confirmed as president of the new-look Paramount under David Ellison.
Paramount’s former licensing chief, Can Cohen, departed last week.
Other new additions now confirmed include Don Granger becoming president of the motion picture group and Jose Turkienicz being named exec vice president and head of global operations.
Matt Thunell is president of Paramount TV Studios, as expected, while Efrain Miron becomes exec vice president and head of content strategy and licencing, and Jane Wiseman is exec vice president and head of originals for DTC, with both execs’ arrivals previously mooted.
Elsewhere, Rebecca Mall is president of cross company initiatives, franchise and corporate marketing; Kevin Creighton is exec vice president of corporate finance and investor relations; Tony Driscoll is exec vice president and head of corporate strategy and development; and Laura Watson is exec vice president of corporate and executive communications.
“These new members of the senior management team bring fresh perspectives shaped by years of industry experience, adding meaningful depth, unrelenting passion and a shared commitment to building a next-generation media company,” Ellison said.
“At a time of incredible opportunity for Paramount and our industry, I’m confident these forward-minded leaders will propel our vision and reignite a shared sense of purpose and ambition throughout our teams.”
Ellison earlier this week revealed Paramount’s structure, which will comprise three segments: a streaming unit will be led by former Netflix and Sister exec Cindy Holland; Studios is to be overseen by Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg; and TV media will be helmed by George Cheeks.
The formal completion of the merger between Paramount and Skydance is expected today.
