Cristina Guggino to lead content partnerships at Oaktree-backed group

Radial Entertainment, the entity formed last year when Oaktree Capital Management combined US outfits FilmRise and Shout! Studios, has upped Cristina Guggino to become vice president of co-productions and content partnerships.

Guggino, who was previously director of unscripted production, will work with producers, distributors and financing partners globally to develop and grow the company’s slate.

During her tenure, Guggino has commissioned shows such as Death Comes Knocking, Killers Caught on Camera, World’s Most Evil Prisoners, and Hashtag Homicide.

Radial works with both traditional and emerging platforms on its originals, including AMC Networks International UK, Blue Ant Media, Woodcut Media, All3Media International, and Sphere/Abacus.

Its titles are available across AVOD and FAST platforms in the US, including the FilmRise channels, Tubi, Roku, Pluto, Samsung TV Plus and Amazon.

Guggino reports to chief investment officer and chief content officer David Buoymaster, who said: “Original content is an increasingly important driver of value across FAST and streaming platforms, and there is no one better at building it than Cristina.”

Last week, Radial named former Fremantle executive James Meyer to the newly created position of senior vice president of international sales and distribution, working across its library of over 70,000 movies and TV episodes.

Radial was created in July when LA-based Oaktree acquired streaming outfit FilmRise and merged it with film and TV distributor Shout! Studios. The company hired former Paramount Streaming exec Jeff Shultz in December
