Psychological reality format debuted on Channel 4 last year
Brazilian giant Globo has become the first international buyer of Studio Lambert’s psychological reality format, The Inheritance.

The local version will be available exclusively on Globo’s video-on-demand platform, Globoplay, and is being produced by Brazilian producer Formata. All3Media International, the sales arm of Studio Lambert owner All3Media, distributes the format globally.
The Inheritance debuted on Channel 4 in the UK last year and sees 12 contestants competing to secure a fortune from ‘The Deceased’, who has directed that only one player can take home the money.
To release the fortune, contestants must work together to complete challenges while also persuading each other that only they should be entrusted with the money.
Details around the length of the Brazilian version have not been revealed but the UK original ran to 12 episodes. It finished shy of the 701,000 (6.5%) benchmark and averaged 504,000 (5%) across the series.
“Reality shows are one of Globoplay’s key strengths and we strongly believe in the potential of this format to create connection and engage Brazilian audiences in this competition,” said Tatiana Costa, head of content at Globoplay and pay TV for Globo.
She added that the local adaptation “brings our specialised Brazilian perspective to the format.”
Yari Torres, vice president of LatAm and Hispanic US at All3Media International, added that the format “immerses audiences in a world driven by entitlement, trust, greed, fairness, and persuasion, with the ability to attract A-list talent”, adding that “this new version promises to captivate audiences across this market”.
The sale marks the latest format export for Studio Lambert, which is also behind The Circle, Race Across the World and Gogglebox. Its format Rise and Fall was recently adapted in India for Amazon MX, where it became the platform’s most-watched series to date.
