Fox-owned streamer will work with social media creators to produce original series

Fox-owned streamer Tubi has forged a partnership with TikTok to develop scripted and unscripted series with the social media service’s creators.
The pact, dubbed the Creatorverse Incubator, will see creators selected by TikTok, who will then develop original series across genres.
Shows will cross all genres and will be launched on Tubi’s service, which counts more than 100 million active monthly users. Series will also be marketed via TikTok Spotlight to drive engagement.
Tubi has been rapidly expanding its creator-led initiatives under chief exec Anjali Sud, hiring fellow Vimeo alum Rich Bloom and unveiling a Tubi for Creators initiative last year.

An initial cohort of participants are to be named later this summer and Bloom said the Creatorverse Incubator would act as a “bridge from digital platforms to premium long-form storytelling.”
“TikTok has become one of the most powerful engines for discovering creative voices and building passionate communities at scale,” he added.
“This partnership allows us to work with successful TikTok creators who are ready to take the next step creatively, expanding their fandoms to new audiences on Tubi and bringing Tubi fans more stories they can’t find anywhere else.”
Dawn Yang, global head of entertainment partnerships at TikTok, said the partnership would “give the next generation of entertainers more opportunities to expand their audiences, tell bigger stories, and turn their creativity into lasting impact.”
Over the last 10 months, Tubi has added more than 16,000 episodes from more than 200 creators to its platform.
It also rolled out into the UK last year, hiring former ITV streaming exec Ross Appleton. A raft of local originals have been commissioned, including a show from Nick Emmerson’s new indie Headers And Volleys Entertainment.
