SBS in Oz snags Cold Haven

Australia’s SBS has picked up Icelandic-Portuguese crime thriller Cold Haven.

The eight-part drama, from Glassriver and SPi, will premiere on the broadcaster’s streaming platform, SBS On Demand, on 15 July. The deal was agreed via distributor About Premium Content (APC), which is handling worldwide sales for the series.

Set between Iceland and Portugal, Cold Haven follows the search for the murderer of a Portuguese woman who relocates to Iceland with her teenage daughter in search of a better life.

Cold Haven is written by Filipa Poppe, Joana Andrade, Sveinbjörn Baldvinsson and Elías Helgi Kofoed-Hansen, with Arnór Pálmi Arnarsson directing. The show previously aired on Síminn in Iceland and both RTP and RTP Play in Portugal.

 

Rogan exec joins STV Studios

STV Studios Factual has appointed Mark Hedgecoe as its creative director.

Hedgecoe will join the Glasgow-based STVS division in October, moving from Grenfell: Uncovered indie Rogan Productions, where he has served as head of the Scotland hub since its 2021 launch.

Hedgecoe has over 25 years’ experience in factual programme-making, and has overseen an extensive development pipeline at Rogan including The Rise and Fall of Michelle Mone (BBC), Original Sin: My Son the Killer (Showmax), The Secret of Me (Channel 4) and International Emmy-winning Freddie Mercury: The Final Act (BBC).

Prior to Rogan, he held a variety of roles at the BBC, starting as a BBC News trainee before becoming head of Pacific Quay Productions at BBC Studios. He also previously led BBC Arts production across the UK and was deputy head of the BBC Science Unit. Read more

 

Double Lives of Suburban Wives explored on TLC

TLC in the US has unveiled a new series that reexamines what life in suburbia looks like in the digital age.

Double Lives of Suburban Wives follows six couples in the St. Louis area whose everyday routines contrast with their careers in adult content creation.

The show premieres Sunday, 9 August at 10pm and is produced by Scout Productions.
