Local remakes of dating hit ordered in Serbia and Romania

Warner Bros. International Television Production’s hit dating franchise The Bachelor has found two new homes in CEE.
Serbia’s Prva TV becomes the 47th territory to order a local version of the original format, with The Bachelor being filmed later this month by local prodco Emotion Productions.
Pro TV in Romania, meanwhile, has commissioned a first season of The Bachelor in Paradise, which sees participants from The Bachelor and The Bachelorette heading to an exotic setting where they try to kindle a long lasting relationship.
The orders, unveiled at NEM Dubrovnik today, come alongside a second season greenlight for The Bachelor in Bulgaria. The show’s first 65-episode run debuted on bTV last year, joining other local remakes in Germany, Australia, and Canada.
André Renaud, general vice president of format & finished sales at WBITVP, said: “Central and Eastern Europe continues to be a vibrant market for international formats, with broadcasters seeking proven brands that can connect with local audiences while delivering scale and longevity.
“What’s particularly encouraging is the breadth of demand we’re seeing across the region, from major dating franchises and reality formats to factual entertainment brands that continue to earn returning seasons.”
