HBO Max’s FBoy Island is being remade in India

Warner Bros. International Television Production (WBITVP)’s FBoy Island is getting an Indian remake.

Discovery Communications has commissioned a local version of the WBITP format, to be called FBoy Survival, for both Discovery Channel and the D+ platform.

The 20-episode show is being produced by Fox6 Media and will launch in February, blending adventure-survival with the evergreen reality dating genre.

FBoy Island was created by STX Entertainment and The Year of Elan for HBO Max in the US and has already been remade in Australia, Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, New Zealand and Sweden. The format has also inspired spin-off FGirl Island for The CW in the US.

WBITVP and Discovery India have previously worked on Reality Queens of the Jungle, which is moving into a second season. It is known locally as Reality Ranis of the Jungle and produced by Endemol India.

FBoy Island has also been commissioned in Germany, with a nine-part series produced by WBITVP Germany set to debut later this month on Amazon Prime Video.

Elsewhere, WBITVP has struck a deal that will see ZDF’s Cash or Trash being remade in Central and Eastern Europe.

Croatian national broadcaster Nova TV will produce a 20-episode run, while in Serbia, Nova will produce a 60-episode series. The format sees a panel of expert dealers attempting to outbid each other to buy antiques and heirlooms brought in by members of the public.

WBITVP has also confirmed the first international commission of Inside Therapy, which is being remade for France Télévisions.

A five-part series known as Rendez-vous Chez le Psy is being produced WBITVP France, with the show tied to Mental Health Awareness Week.

The format was created by WBITVP group company Twenty Twenty for BBC One/BBC iPlayer and launched internationally at 2025’s London Screenings.

André Renaud, WBITVP’s global vice president of format and finished sales, said: “The latest commissions of FBoy Island, Reality Queens of the Jungle, and ZDF’s iconic Cash or Trash demonstrate that range, while the commission of Inside Therapy in France shows that there is also still space and purpose for content that sparks a real conversation with audiences.”
