Industry five-a-side football and netball tournament takes place in June

Broadcast and the Film and TV Charity announce the return of the Broadcast Fives, the much-loved industry five-a-side football and netball tournament, all in aid of the Film and TV Charity. Launching this summer after a six-year hiatus, the one-day tournament has been opened up to everyone working in film, TV and cinema, with the proceeds raised going to the Film and TV Charity, who provide emotional and practical support for people working in those industries.

The event is to take place at the Shepherds Bush Powerleague in London on Saturday 17 June, with male, female and mixed gender teams of between five and seven invited to compete. With a minimum of six games being played by each team, all matches will have an FA qualified referee, with the chance to win a Broadcast Fives trophy for men’s, women’s and mixed teams, and even the tournament golden boot. Players will also enjoy barbecue and post-match drinks, and if previous years are anything to go by it’s set to be a cracking day.

To enter, teams must be made up of members who work in film, TV and cinema, from those working at broadcasters and film studios to those in distribution and post-production, as well as suppliers, service providers and manufacturers.

Corporate team spots go on sale on Thursday 9 March, with limited spaces available, and early bird prices starting at £599. Along with corporate team places, there will also be valuable sponsorship opportunities available.

The Broadcast Fives will be managed and delivered by the Film and TV Charity. All funds raised will help to support people working behind the scenes in the film, TV and cinema industry with their financial, social and mental worries - from its free and confidential 24/7 Film and TV Support Line, to its Bullying Advice Service and Financial Support.

Louise Benson, Development Director at Film and TV Charity said “We couldn’t be more excited to see the return of the Broadcast Fives, the event that was a staple in the industry’s calendar for many years. We can’t wait to bring together those working behind the scenes in film, TV and cinema to celebrate our industry and enjoy some healthy competition, all raising vital funds for us to continue supporting our incredible industry. We encourage everyone to get their colleagues involved, and their sporting gear ready, for what’s set to be an exciting day of competition, food and celebrations!”

Conor Dignam, Chief Executive at Media Business Insight said “The Broadcast Fives play such a huge role in bringing all of us in film, TV, and cinema together and we’re delighted that the tournament’s return can help to raise vital funds for important causes that impact people across the industry. At Media Business Insight we recognise how valuable the Film and TV Charity’s work is in supporting life behind the scenes, so we really hope you’ll grab your kit, get your trainers on, and get your teams together for when spots go on sale on 9 March. We can’t wait to see you all on the pitch!”
