Broadcast has begun its annual search for the next generation of programme making superstars with the launch of the Broadcast Young Talent Awards 2004.

Produced in association with BBC Resources, the scheme is designed to showcase undiscovered or unheralded young people making television in this country, in turn bringing them to the attention of the whole industry.

There are 12 awards in total covering many aspects of production and for the first time there is category for Best Young Producer and another for Best Young Production Co-ordinator/assistant. Entrants, who must be under the age of 30 and based in the UK, can be nominated by people they have worked with, their boss or even themselves.

There is also an award for the company that has done the most to develop young people in television. A panel of industry experts will pick the winners who will be presented with their awards at a ceremony at the Hammersmith Palais in London on May 19. Deadline for entries is March 12.
