The payment comes as A+E management acknowledged the ‘immense pressure’ its staff face across all of its regions.

It will be given to all employees under vice-president level, representing over 90% of A+E’s workforce in London, Munich, Rome, Madrid, Warsaw and Johannesburg.

A+E employs around 280 people across Europe. The payment will be made this month in addition to an inflationary-enhanced annual increase from 1 January.

The windfall was unveiled by managing director Dean Possenniskie in a company meeting last week.

A+E is the latest company to make a cost-of-living payment following ITV’s gesture of £2000 to all of its circa-4,700 workforce earning less than £75,000 a year in September.

Earlier that week, Sky UK & Ireland revealed it would be making a £20m pay-out to some 20,000 staff members, with employees receiving £500 in October and January.
