5 is to show daily Commonwealth Games highlights this summer from Glasgow.

This follows the BBC’s decision not to take a highlights package from TNT Sports, which won the live rights for the Games last year.

As reported in The Guardian, the BBC held talks with TNT Sports before opting out of showing any content from the Commonwealth Games.

TNT Sports will broadcast 600+ hours of live coverage from Glasgow and agreed to sublicense highlights rights to 5 after a competitive tender process.

This will be the first Commonwealth Games since 1954 that hasn’t been shown on the BBC.
