The 42-second film was created by Studio Something and will be shown at the start of all live games and highlights on the BBC

Edinburgh-based creative production house Studio Something has created the title sequence for all live 2022 World Cup games and highlights shows on the BBC.

Studio Something says the title sequence “celebrates the rhythm of the World Cup – the set pieces, iconic moments, fan celebrations and skill on the pitch.”

The short film combines audible and visual memories of the World Cup’s past, mixed with current players, to create a “sensory kaleidoscope relevant to the present,” says the company’s head of production, Andy Maas.

He adds: “Now, via TikTok and other social channels, there is a culture of remixing, reattributing and resharing, and we wanted to play into this with a ‘memeable’ scrapbook style treatment, looping visuals and audio in a hypnotic 42 seconds of football fandom. A jamboree to celebrate the 2022 tournament.”

The title sequence was produced and directed by Studio Something, the animation was by Andrei Staruiala and the original music was by Callum Rankine.
