Iona Stephen & Dan Walker, For The Love Of Golf, Crowd Network

Presenter Dan Walker and former professional golfer turned broadcaster Iona Stephen have launched a golf-focused podcast.

For The Love Of Golf is produced by Crowd Network, joining its slate of shows including For The Love Of Rugby with Dan Cole and Ben Youngs, For The Love Of Cricket with Stuart Broad and Jos Buttler, and For The Love Of Cycling with Ned Boulting and David Miller. Crowd’s business model sees podcast hosts hold ownership of their shows while Crowd produces and brings in brand partnerships. 

For The Love Of Golf will launch on YouTube, podcast platforms and social media from 8 September. There will be regular video episodes as well as challenges, films, conversations and social content for golfers of every ability. 

Walker currently anchors 5 News and presents the Classic FM breakfast show, and has previously fronted Football Focus, BBC Breakfast and Match of the Day. He is also a lifelong golf fan and has hosted and played in golf events throughout his broadcasting career. 

Meanwhile, Stephen was a professional golfer before becoming a broadcaster. She is now a commentator and presenter for Sky Sports and CBS and one of the sport’s most recognisable voices. 

Stephen commented: “Golf is such a brilliant sport because there are so many different ways to love it. You can be obsessed with the professional game, play once a month with your mates, spend your weekends chasing a handicap or just enjoy being out on a golf course. Dan and I want to celebrate all of that. We want the show to be fun, to feel like golf feels when you’re actually playing it – and hopefully give people plenty to talk about along the way.”

Walker said: “I am a golf obsessive – although I’m not sure my talent on the course matches my enthusiasm for the game. I can’t wait to work with Iona. She is brilliant, she knows the game inside out and we’ve been good friends for years. We want to talk about the big stuff, but also the weird, funny and relatable things that every golfer goes through. If you love golf, whatever your level, this show is for you.”
