Eurosport has renewed Karate Combat for a fourth season.

Karate combat sees full-contact professional karate fights with competitors including Olympic medallists and national champions, take place in eye-catching virtual CGI environments created by artists using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine. The bouts will see fighters retain, obtain or step closer to Karate Combat World Championship title belts.

MMA icon Georges St-Pierre, fellow karate black belt and UFC standout Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson, and the returning Lyoto ‘The Dragon’ Machida join lead analyst and UFC legend Bas Rutten to oversee the season’s action and offer insights and tips both to the fighters and the viewers at home.

Josh Palmer and Layla-Anna Lee also join Rutten on the broadcast and presentation team.

The fourth season began on 14 May, and continues at two-week intervals until a final event in Orlando, Florida on 25 June. It is show in 75 territories by Eurosport, including the UK, as well as on the Eurosport app and website.

Adam Kovacs, Karate Combat president, said: “Last season’s partnership with Eurosport was a huge success and set new viewership records for Karate Combat in key territories, so we are delighted to announce a new agreement which retains Eurosport as the European television home of Karate Combat and will bring Karate Combat: Season 4 to millions of households across the continent.”

Georges St-Pierre, Karate Combat sensei, added: “Karate Combat is one of the most exciting combat sports organizations out there and things are really going to another level this season - I can’t wait for people to see what’s coming. This is full-contact, fast-paced elite striking and I’m really happy that finally karate athletes have a place where they can turn pro.”
