Gracenote Data Hub update finds major growth in sport content on likes of Netflix, Prime Video and others

The top five SVOD platforms had 52% more sport content year-on-year in 2025, according to Gracenote’s latest Data Hub update.
The data illustrates how Netflix, Prime Video, Apple TV, Disney+, and Paramount+ have continued to move into sport over the past year. The 52% counts each episode or match of a show/sport, and when only counting each whole league or show as one instance, the amount of sport has grown by 12.5%.
This comes as part of a general growth in content on the platforms, which has increased 20% year-on-year.
A platform has to be tracked by Gracenote in nine or more countries to be called global, and these are the five platforms that meet this criteria.
The amount of sport on major streamers looks set to grow further, after Paramount+ acquired the UK rights to the men’s Champions League. It will begin its coverage of the competition in the 2027/28 season. In addition, Apple TV is now the home of F1 in the US, Disney+ has begun airing the women’s Champions League and men’s LaLiga, Netflix has leaned further into boxing, and Prime Video has long held major sport rights across the UK and Europe.
Gracenote’s data also shows that sport has a growing role on FAST channels, with 32% more sport content shown than 12 months previously while there is a 26% growth in all content.
