Liverpool v PSG became the most watched live sport event on Prime Video in the UK
Prime Video has revealed that over 13 million viewers watched its Champions League coverage in the UK and Ireland.
This was the first season that Prime Video has held the rights in the region, holding the first pick on Tuesday nights and 17 games overall.
PSG’s victory over Liverpool in the quarter-finals became the most watched live sport event on Prime Video ever in the UK, with over five million tuning in. The record had previously been held by Manchester City and Arsenal’s Premier League clash in February 2023.
PSG’s win over Arsenal in the semi-final also attracted over five million, and the north London side and Manchester City’s clashes with Real Madrid both drew over four million. Non-English sides were also popular, with the semi-final second leg between Barcelona and Inter Milan also watched by over four million.
“These record audiences show how the reach and accessibility of Prime extends these huge European matches to even more fans,” said Alex Green, managing director of Prime Video Sport, International. “This is also a great credit to our talented production team who make these headline Tuesday matches a truly must-watch spectacle, with 90 minutes of pre-match coverage and a constant pitch-side presence that fans have really responded to. We are just getting started and will continue to innovate as we develop our coverage next season.”
