New division will advise broadcasters, streaming platforms, rights holders, and federations on which technologies to adopt

Protocol Group

Protocol Group has launched Protocol Strategy & Consulting, a division advising organisations on technology adoption.

The division officially launched at Sportel 2025, and will aim to assist broadcasters, streaming platforms, rights holders and federations globally on the broadcast technologies they should invest in.

It is led by Ariel Shnerer, Protocol’s director of growth strategy, who joined the company earlier this year. He has previously worked as general manager of Fight Network and SVP of content, distribution & marketing at TNA Wrestling.

Protocol is already advising broadcasters in areas such as interactive solutions, virtual branding, OTT development, live clipping, remote production, and more.

“With technology providers entering the sports broadcast industry at record pace, broadcasters and rightsholders are becoming increasingly uncertain about which technologies to trust, and, most importantly, which ones will stand the test of time,” said Lowell Conn, president of Protocol Group. “Protocol’s deep understanding of broadcasters, streaming platforms, and rightsholders, combined with our transmission and production engineering expertise, gives us a unique vantage point to help clients select the right technology partners and support them through integration and beyond.”

Shnerer added: “Many broadcasters and sports properties around the world face ‘choice paralysis’ because there are simply too many technology vendors, each with different value propositions, even when their solutions address the same challenge. Protocol Strategy & Consulting will help both new and existing Protocol partners identify and align with the right technology suppliers for their specific needs, and to achieve a successful outcome.”
