BBC Super League Show

The Super League Show will return to BBC1 and BBC iPlayer from 14 February, with the launch of the 2022 Super League season.

It will air on BBC1 in the North West, Yorkshire, Yorkshire & Lincolnshire and the North East & Cumbria, and will be available in all regions on BBC iPlayer from 7pm on 14 February.

30 episodes will be broadcast through the campaign, showing highlights of every match week, the play-offs and the Super League Grand Final.

Live coverage of the Super League is free-to-air for the first time ever this year, after Channel 4 agreed a deal to show ten matches-per-season. It began its broadcasts on Saturday (12 February) with Leeds Rhinos’ defeat to Warrington Wolves. Other matches will continue to be shown on Sky Sports, which has held the rights since the competition’s inception.

In addition to Super League action, the BBC is also to live the men’s and women’s Challenge Cups this season. This includes seven ties across BBC1 & BBC2, plus additional games to be covered on iPlayer, the BBC Sport website, app and red button.

It will also air 63 matches from this year’s men’s, women’s, and wheelchair Rugby League World Cups.

Stephanie Marshall, head of sport for BBC England, said: “In what is a huge year for the sport, we are thrilled that the BBC will host such a wealth of live Rugby League coverage and highlights.

“From the return of BBC One’s Super League Show, to the Challenge Cup, and then autumn’s World Cup tournaments, the BBC (across TV, radio and online) is going to be home to an unrivalled programme of Rugby League coverage in 2022.”
